I have a 30x50 pole barn with efoil insulation...I am planning to finish out a small restroom and rest area and planning to put a a/c/heater window unit in...what is the best way to finish out the inside?

I am thinking of using pink fiberglass insulation and then sheetrock, but, it seems like i would need something between the efoil and the regular insulation...thoughts? do I even need to put more insulation in? The ceiling is going to be a dropped ceiling because I did 5 ft trusses that were not rated for holding sheetrock...

BTW, anyone thinking about building a barn without efoil, rethink your decision...in the Texas heat this summer, a simple fan made sitting in the barn very comfortable...

What are the dimensions of the walls going to be?

It seems to me that you can easily put some 2x6 or 2x8 rafters across the top of the walls and create a ceiling that you can hang sheetrock from and install insulation. For the price of the drop ceiling, and how uselss it is for anything, you'd be way ahead with rafters and sheetrock.

Good luck,
Eddie

The walls around the outside are going to be 2x4...the barn is built with 5x5 posts...the enclosed area is going to be in the back 22 ft of the barn (22x30) so I could probably put in 2 22 ft laminated beams and then tie into it 2x6/8 10 ft beams...I see your point...

I put a suspended ceiling in my Morton building and I will never do it again! When the door was open and the wind was blowing the ceiling panels would blow out of the frame. I had 12 inches of insulation and panel clips to hold them in place but there was always a few panels that would pop up.

you didn't state the height of the building but I would think that you could put in the dim lumber ceiling and then plywood over the top for light storage above the ceiling ..

that is unless you want full height inside the walled off room ...

The ceilings are 12 ft before I put in the concrete floor so probably around 11 1/2...still not sure what to do about the side walls for insulation though...

You all have defintely scared me away from the floating ceiling...pricing out finishing the top...because of the way the joists are, it would be hard to have much storage up there...but, i will put a couple of pieces of plywood for some...
