Was wondering if anyone has bought one of the aftermarket gov's for the 9N's, and if they have had any problems with them.
Trying to help an old buddy of mine in town that found out the little clip on the gov. shaft broke/wore through, and pretty much let it have pups internally. Knocked the corners off the flange where the 4 balls ride. Boogered the conical back half, the balls ride in. And the flange caught the balls, and kinda' put them into the gov. housing, dinging things up.
Looked up the parts at Ford New Holland, then aftermarket. For a few dollars more, you can get the complete gov. assy. brand new.
And was wondering if the little wire clip was a weak link in that unit. Happen often..?? Like, should that clip be replaced if you ever overhaul the tractor?? I see now they use probably an updated version of what was made then, a C-clip. F/NH say's to procure locally.
Didn't think to ask if that groove is worn, or distorted since it let loose. If it is, then no use putting new internals in without putting the new shaft in, and having more in it than the complete unit.
