Is there a source for aftermarket NH gaskets as there is for the automotive market? I need the shifter cover gasket for my 1715 and the OEM piece is $40 ... kind of silly for a simple paper gasket.
Thanks

Gasket in a tube or get out your scissors and go snip snip.
Not hard at all to do.
Smear some grease on the casing and press the paper/cardboard to create an outline and snip away.

I've don that many times, even keep raw stock on hand.
About the only gaskets that can't be DIY'd are head and exhaust.

Sounds like a plan, I still have my gasket hole cutters somewhere and a few roles of gasket materials.

Tricks I learned.

You lay the gasket material on the flat surface and gently tap a ball bearing 'ball' in the bolt hole area.
This effectively cuts a nice round hole just slightly oversize just where you need it to be.
Also pressing the gasket material I sort of see saw an Xacto blade around the inner and outer perimeters, works most times and better than scissors.
For paper gaskets I always found that greasing them really helped as they then were re-usable and also did not shift nor fall off during re assembly of components.

Or use never-sieze instead of grease. That is what they use on gaskets at work, it helps them seal and it makes them much easier to remove than ones put on with most other substances.
