2015 TYM T1003C
I'm looking at either the TYM903 or 1003 vs the Kioti DK90 and Kubota M9540. I'm not (too) afraid of the little known TYM tractors and these larger models spec out better than the other to brands... and not by a little over the Kubota. But, it's the intangibles that worry me. Only the Kubotas are available locally to test drive. The nearest TYM's of that size is in Virginia! I'm in New England. Kioti's are not much better in terms of dealers that have the large machines in stock. Most dealers are only carrying the CUTs.

Pricewise and configured the way I want, they're all in the same ballpark. My biggest concern between them regards weight. The Kubota, for the same HP, is 2,000 lbs lighter than the TYM and 2,400 lbs lighter than the Kioti. I'll be doing hay on grades of 12-18%. Am I wrong to be as concerned about weight as I am? Does dealer proximity trump the weight difference? The Kubota dealer is 12 miles from me. The Kioti dealer is 17 miles and the TYM dealer is 26 miles. This is assuming I buy the tractor from the dealer closest to me. Is it fair to test drive a machine in Virginia only to buy it from a local dealer? Again, the only one I can test drive without getting on an airplane is the Kubota. What say y'all?

Who's Red? I have a local blue dealer but they don't have much good to say about the New Holland line (except for the CUTs) and have brought in Mahindra to supplement. Deere isn't local and aren't competitive with prices.

This is good advice. Although I don't think you can go wrong with a 'Bota

Red = CaseIH which basically equals New Holland.

I would look at the better Red, Massey Ferguson.

The weight differential of the Kubota doesn't concern you? I actually mistook, the Kubota M9540 is 2,800 lbs lighter than the Kioti (6,175# vs 8.905#).

No, do a search on the weight difference between Kioti and Kubota. It has been discussed at length.

I have a Kubota M9540 and it weighs more than 6,175# it has a tag in the cab behind the set that has the tractor weight on it and it is over 8,000# but I can't remember the exact weight. I was told the weight on Kubota's web sight is the shipping weight with out tires and other odds and ins.

Buy so good old American iron! IH or JD from the 60's or 70's. My 1066 weighs in around 16K, and the round baler weighs 8600. Put a small square and a full wagon behind it, and those two alone can top 12K. You want an 8K tractor infront of that on hills. Four wheel drive does not make up for shear weight. You do not want to let the tail get away with waging the dog do you? (Personal opinion, there has not been a good farm tractor made in the IH 66 series or the JD 30 series from the 70's, the pinical of American tractor iron. Simple, strong and dependable. )

i will seconf that. we have a 1066 and it is a great tractor. bought new in the 70's and havent had a problem at all with it since, other than it wears rear tires pretty good when plowing because of the power.
