Newbie please be gentile.
I have a new Kioti CK2610 and had the dealer put a 3rd function on it. I also ordered a Frostbite log grapple. The Frostbite came with 2 male hoses. and the 3rd function is 1 male and 1 female connector.

Before I change out the male adapter on the 3rd function to a female are there other options? Do all 3rd function attachments have 2 male hoses? Trying to avoid swapping out the adapter with each attachment.

You can set it up whichever way you want. I set my front remote quick connects up with a male and a female, and the reverse on the grapple.

My theory was that connecting the two ends of the grapple hoses together when the grapple is off the tractor would prevent hydraulic lockup when the fluid expands that would keep me from reconnecting the grapple to the tractor. I was wrong, it still happens. I made a device with a tee and a valve to plug into the grapple so I can let the pressure out.

If you do two females on the tractor end, mark one and the corresponding male on the grapple so it always operates the same way.

I just went out and checked my WR Long 3rd function and Land Pride grapple. My 3rd function has one male, one female hydraulic hose end. So does the grapple. One reason - the grapple function toggle switch on the joy stick will always operate the same because the hydraulic hoses can only be connected one way.

I bet you would find that most FEL implements that need 3rd function will have one male, one female. I would either change one hose end on the Frostbite to female OR look around on the internet for a male to female adapter.

I was at a farm show last year and noticed there is no consistency from the OEM's on this. Below is what I saw on the Loader:

Case IH: 2 Male Flush Face
Fent: 2 Female AG
John Deere: Male / Female Ag
Kubota: Male / Female Ag
Versatile: 2 male AG
Zetor: 2 Female AG

Almost all skid steers will use a male and female flush face quick coupler.

I put two female AG on my loader as Its cheaper to buy male tips than female couplers. It is nice because I can adjust an implement with the front of the tractor if I need to instead of having to turn around and hook it to the rear remotes. If implements are left out the female couplers get hard to use faster than the male tips. I have used some pretty nasty rusty male tips without a problem, but a nasty female coupler is a real pain.

I ended up swapping out 1 of the the male Pioneer connector with a female, but I also had to but larger wrenches.. Seems I dont have tools bigger than 24mm. Needed a 32mm socket for the log grapple, a 28mm for somethign else and just got 2 adjustable spud wrenches just in case that I used to swap the male/female pioneer ends.

I had the same problem when I got my Branson. I had tools to work on bicycles, motorcycles, cars, and my old Kubota but the Branson has larger fasteners than any of those so I needed some larger tools.

I also needed a larger oil pan for changing the transmission fluid.

BTW I found that getting NPT threads on hydraulic fittings to seal under pressure was difficult, until I read about LocTite 545 on this site. It's made exactly for that purpose and works really well.
