I know this has been talked about, but I'm still undecided. I'm needed more traction for my 2544GT, esp now with all the flooding it's soft. Mainly for pushing and digging with my FEL, and later with rear attachments when I get the 3pt built. Pretty much decided on the 23X8.50-12

Mainly it's down a couple Carlisle models or a cheaper brand. I can get the Deestone Super Lug 6 ply for about $112 shipped per pair off ebay. They look at least as good as the Carlisle super lugs and are very heavy duty 6ply.

On the other hand, I like USA brand and I've read the Carlisle Tru Power's are good. I kinda like the Power Trac's myself, has anyone had any experience with those? Those would run about $145 shipped I think for the pair, and the Tru Power's even more than that. I guess the only downside to the Power Trac is they're only 2 ply other than the price.

Anyone have any experience with the Deestone or Carlisle (other than super lugs) ?? Thanks...

I would think any Ag tire would work fine. The ones I have work great.

Which ones do you have?

BTW, found the Power Trac's on ebay for about $140 shipped and this seller has about the best pics I've seen. Good close up and a side by side comparison between the Power Trac, Tru Power, and overseas super lugs. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=120361199493

I think I'm leaning towards the Power Trac more and more...

I have the Power Tracs on mine. I believe they are only 2-ply, but I've run over small stumps (<1" diameter), all kinds of briars, sticks, etc. etc., and never had a problem. I love them for traction, in mud and snow. Highly recommend them.

I believe a lot of people like the 2 ply tire better. When you start getting into the 4 and 6 ply, it gets harder to get the tire to flatten out and get the full width of the tire in contact with the ground.

I have the 23 x 8.50 x 12 Carlisles on mine .

Cost me 100 bucks when I got them with the tractor new.

Don't go with anything wider..:)

Never thought of that. I think the 6ply is really more for machines that have a lot more weight than a GT.

Well, I'm going to order the Power Tracs then. I had about made up my mind, and you're recommendation put it over the top. I'm ordering from the guy on ebay (last link) k-morrow $104 + $35.65 shipping. Hopefully, UPS will have them here in a couple days.

LBrown59, which do you have the power trac or tru power?

Can't wait! Has anyone water-filled theirs for weight?

People fill their tires all the time. You just don't want to use water. It freezes. The most common fluids used are Windshield washer fluid, RV antifreeze, and a product called "Rim Guard". If you can afford the Rim Guard, I would recommend it. It weighs more than water and is completely non toxic and biodegradable. Do a web search for it and find their website. You then call them and they will give you the names of your local dealers. I just had my fronts done, and it was $3.85 per gallon. I know price varies though. I think what I paid was a little on the high side.

That Rim Guard is pretty neat, but no dealers this far south. Too bad, I like the fact it's heavier than water. I was planning on using either washer fluid or water with additive. I believe they make something to use with regular water for the large tractor tires.
