My dealer came over today and took my R4s of and put the ag tires on with the wheels dished out. The rear R4s outside measured at 58 inches, with the ags it is 65 inches. The dealer said he could move them one more position out but wanted to make sure my 6 foot Woods mower would work still.

My field is wet and didn't want to tear it up, but I did take it for a short spin.
If you remember, my issue was I felt the R4s made it feel unstable on hills. My initial reaction is, the Ags with the filled tires and wheel weights on it now, the tractor felt much more stable. I will have to try it more when it gets a little drier out, but for now, I feel like it really helped.

Thanks

NYBOB, if you have time post some pics of your 3720 with the AG wheels and tires.

Dirt,

Side shot or rear? Give me a day or two and I will post them.

I guess a rear shot might show the width of the AG wheel stance better.
Thanks.

I don't get it. In my experience Ag tires are narrower than R4s. How does it work out that they are wider on your tractor?

The tires are narrower but they dish these out so the wheelbase is 7-8 inches wider.

NYBob:

I run R3's (Two position wheels but with more dish than the R4's) with 6" (each side) wheel extenders and I'm in the narrow position and running about 67" wide (Would be about 72" in the wide position). I find my 3720 cab feels much more stable with the wider stance than it did on the large R4's.

I still don't know why they don't use 8 position rims with the R4's and R3's to give a lot more width options.

NYBOB, glad everything worked out with the wheels and Ag tires. I myself prefer the R1's now that I have put some hours on my 3520 with the R4's. Wider rear wheel stance and better traction are the top two benifits. Make sure you keep the R1 front tires air up pretty hard or they will break the bead if you are doing some turning with a loaded front bucket.

Sincerely, Dirt

Bob,

I really liked the R1 tires on my 3720 tractor. I ended up switching back to the R4's mainly for better weight distribution on the soft soil around my house. I never ran my R1's full out as you have yours and the tractor was a bit more tippy with them on than the R4's. I sold my 3720 about two months ago and currently am tractorless (I do have a really stout diesel XUV Gator, though) but if I buy another mid frame machine I will probably go R1 and play with the wheel dish a bit more. In all, I felt the R1 tires performed a little better, save for loader work.
