I read a bit of news where AGCO may streamline its business plan into only 3 distinct product lines. I read this in a newsletter called " Ag Equipment Intelligence" formerly known as " Ag Industry Watch"
If I was the betting type I would imagine the Massey Ferguson line of tractors will still exist, there are a lot of Massey Fergusons in my neighbor hood and I cannot imagine Massey Ferguson going away.

I think that Agco needs to streamline some of the lines that they sell. My neighbor, who is a Massey dealer, has told me about some of these plans. I think that the Hesston name will be mostly dropped and the Hesston will be called Massey Ferguson. I think that the New Idea and White brands will also go away. He did say that as he understands it they will stick with the Agco brand in tractors. I wonder how many they sell of these since they have so few Agco dealers? From my personal experience with them they need to spend more money on research and developement and quality control than on all the brand changing and rebadging of products. In this area the 400 series tractors have lost them a lot of loyal Massey customers.

Hmmmm..........interesting........Don't really see how they can cut it down to 3 lines, unless they have different lines for different markets, and lots of badge engineering. Will we see yellow Fendts and Valtras over here?

Almost sounds like White's old antics of making Oliver, Cockshut, MM and White tractors out of the same mold butgetting different paint and decals...

I think there may be some truth to that.
The local JD dealer here carries Hesston, but not Massey
But now, in the last couple weeks they are running big ads on all the Massey tractors they have for sale.
So, maybe Hesston is going away.
Something is going on for sure.

I'm seeing more and more AGCO Challlenger tractors around. Some are for the hwy mowing crews but also some around hobby farms etc. Looks like they are having some success with Challenger.

Turning Massey into more than just a tractor company makes alot of sense. Some dealers now carrying Heston Balers will be able to stock the entre Massey product line now. Seems like it will attract larger more aggressive dealers.

There seems to be some misunderstanding of what this is. The article that I had read on this just said that it was a rebranding. IE - massy is now "Agco - Massy". Everything just gets branded under Agco, much like Deere sells frontier implements even though its still Deere. I do not think that they are going to be changing dealer's product mix. Infact if anything they will be thinning out some of their dealers as there are many who are just too close because of the way that Agco has aquired companies.

That is not correct. Massey Ferguson will not be branded AGCO, nor will Challenger. There are 3 brands, AGCO, Challenger and Massey Ferguson. There will be more products for dealers to sell where there are not conflicts with an existing dealer. The opportunities outweigh the conflicts so many dealers will see their product line expanded.

I am glad to hear that. I know that many times a dealer would like to order a piece of equipment for a customer which was made by a AGCO company only to be told that they couldn't because they didn't carry that specific brand at their location. It now sounds like AGCO is setting it up so that a dealer can get almost any piece of equipment, which AGCO manufactures. That is a very good move for the dealers and also for the customers.
