Also consider number of tines , as well as width.
There are some chain-drive ~48" models out there with as little as 24 tines, while a sturdy gear-driven tiller , like the KingKutterII has 36 tines.
Number of tines = amount of work getting done = Power needed.
Dan239, which KK do you have?
I've been looking at the KKII 48" Gear driven model TG-48 for my
BX2350.
KK website says 20-35 PTO hp, though I've heard people using smaller power plants.
The gear drive model weighs 600#
King Kutter Incorporated
The Chain drive 48XB is 425#
King Kutter Incorporated
I'd normally make a couple of passes anyway, so taking it easy is already part of my normal operation.
I like TG-48 for it's 8" Max depth, the 48XB is something like 4' or 5", big difference in my book.
Any thoughts???
