so i wake up this mornin about to go to work. i go outside to load up my stump grinder onto my trailer. i drive the grinder around front and... no trailer in sight. i think to myself, did i put it back in the storage shed? no, it was here at 10:00 last night. crap. it got stolen right out of my front yard. it happened to be the one night that we left our dog locked up in the pen to get used to the new puppy. he wouldve tore em apart if he had been out. the wierd thing is that i was awake until 3- tryin to fall asleep, and i didnt hear a thing. i asked my dad what time he got up, he says 4:30.( he didnt notice it was missing when he woke up, so he went on to work)i had my dr field and brush mower and my manual pole pruner on it. fortunately i got out of the mowing business and now specialize in tree removal, but i still need to move my stump grinder around. fortunately also, i have a friend who freakincollects trailers of all sizes and he has told me i could use one of his until i get a new one. it had one of those trailer tongue locks on it but it obviously didnt help. luckily for me i had recorded down all serial #'s and gave them to the cops. they said its occuring more and more often in my neighborhood. the guy across the street from me runs a concrete paving company and he is always leavin his trailes out front unlocked and im almost sure that one of these days hes gonna go thru the same thing i just did. the nerves of some people just pisses me off. EDIT: i just remembered that my edger and my backpack sprayer were on there too.

wow, I'm sorry to hear that 334 lawn. It's unbelievable since you were awake so late and you had a coupler lock on it. I hope the cops are able to track it and/or thieves down.

That sucks man. I have my dump trailer on my property and even though we are out in the boonies, it still concerns me. Not to start a political argument here, but if it was legal to just shoot a thief for stealing, it might make it a lot less desirable than the hand slap they get now. Not much incentive for them NOT to steal at this point.

i agree. i have filed a VERY detailed police report so now all i can do is print missing flyers and put them in the lawn mower dealerships and feed stores around here. ive also got about 20 of my friends and even some of my competitors:D looking for it. i actually just got done placing a free missing ad in our local sales catalog thing. im thinkin about callin around to the pawn shops that are close by and tellin em to keep an eye out for that dr. im now in the tree business like i said, so i dont need it on a daily basis, but it still makes me furious. i have a huge job with about 20 stumps that i was suppossed to do tuesday. im lookin at a new 7x16 flatbed equipment trailer with a 2' dovetail and #10,000 capacity so i can start movin my tractor around town. any recommendations?

Recently there was a dealership around here that had somebody stop at their lot during a weekend and drive away with a nice full size truck.... with a gooseneck flatbed trailer still attached. There just happened to be a skidloader and post hole auger on it at the time.
So I think it's getting to be more that way regardless of where you live.
