This may seem like a simple question, but I can't find info anywhere, so I thought I'd ask. I have a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 16HP engine that I just did some work on and now I need to replace the gasket between the air cleaner housing and the carburetor. One side of the new gasket has adhesive on it already (the side that sticks to the air cleaner housing). But what is the best stuff to use to attach the gasket to the carburetor?

Hello
I would just put it on as is.
If you glue it you will tear it any time you take it off.
It sticks on one side to hold it place during assembly.

Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking. Whoever put it on before me apparently glued it on because it did tear when I removed the cleaner housing, and I had to scrape the old gasket material off the carburetor. I just wasn't sure if it was okay to skip the adhesive on one side.
