Airport Rotating Beacon on Display

Our local airport upgraded to all new bituminous paved runways, taxi ways and ground lighting, even a new smaller sized modern rotating beacon was installed, thanks to our tax dollars at work.
That withstanding, I made a decision to display the old Rotating Beacon in local parades and our annual flight breakfast. The 450 pound beacon needed a heavy duty portable dolly to achieve this, so here's what I came up with.....

It doesn't look like it requires much wattage for the bulb for it to throw out such a bright beacon . I had heard that old light house just used candle power and of course those huge glass lenses.

Your correct Gary, they are very efficent. We plan on wiring it up again for 110 so it will be fully operational while it rotates around. While on display it can be plugged into the wall at the airport, and for parade use we will have a portable generator on the trailer. Should be a crowd pleaser !

There's some nostalgia for me. I miss seeing those as I travel in the countryside these days....along with the Burma Shave signs.
