I finally gave in and picked up a cheap ak47.. been thinking about one for years.. never got one.. though have a few SKS.. since after nov 08 military pattern rifles may get a bit stifled.. I figured.. now or never...
found a cheap ( and wanted cheap.. etc.. ) wasr 10/63 ( romanian, IMP by centuryarms ).
Looked good...
Mags are a lil loose in the well.. but not horrible
action seemd to function well with no ammo.. bolt closes full battery fine.. however.. when I released the charge handle to chamnber a round.. it almost closes.. but lakcks an 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch.. though could be knocked into battery... fired fine. I only fired a single shot.. same slight out of battery look to the bolt on auto reload..
.. got it closed.. and after than.. no problems... I figure it was just stiff .. after all.. it's a stamped reciever.. etc.. and from what I understand.. century installed alot of hand-fit tapco parts to them...
speaking of that.. i did notice one annoyance... last round in the clips ( 20 or 30/bananna ) would always have a feed failure.
Don't matter if you loded 5, 10, 15, 20.. etc.. last round in each clip fails to feed properly.. I have 2 clips.. both plastic followers are different.. and seem to let the last round set cockeyed.. etc.
I believe I read somewhere that these rifles were originally designed for single stack mags, and that century widened the well to allow for double stack mags.. my guess is all o of that accounts for the slight wobble inthe mag catch.. and the failure to feed the last round.. etc.
comments?
Oh yeah.. at 100 yards on iron sights, standing shooting position she stays on paper good 6" pattern.. consistantly ejects shells in about a 1' pattern approx 10' to the side and about 1.5' back from the shooter. No deformities, irregularities or marks in the shell casings noticed after ejection.
