All this gun talk - anybody play airsoft?

Can't say I am a big fan given the current atmosphere and the way most kids and adults dress up.

My son and his friends are into airsoft. Locally we have an airsoft business, they have a huge warehouse with an indoor "city", people show up to play and get divided into teams. They also have an outdoor airsoft area on some acreage adjacent to the warehouse. The boys really enjoy airsoft.

I use a Co2 450fps air soft to keep the neighbor's dogs and cats from crapping in my yard. Works well.

With all of the discussion about guns, ammo, and crazy behavoir, I was just curious if anybody here plays (or simulates) with airsoft guns?

My son and I have been playing for a little while, and I've got to say that I think it's a hoot and half. We've had his friends and cousins come over and we split up in the woods and then track each other down.

We see the big advantage of airsoft vs. paintball as it being quite a bit cheaper to get into, not nearly as messy, and the guns look way, way cooler (more realistic). Of course, many times you're on your honor to admit if you've been shot.

So my question is this: Do you guys think that airsoft (or paintball) is a good or bad behavior? After all, we're out in the woods stalking each with fully automatic 6mm weapons, with the whole point being to shoot each other. After we shoot each other, we talk for a minute and split up and do it all over again.

My opinion is that it is fun and we have a good time with each other and when his friends play, it's even more fun. Plus, we get to mess around with replicas or weapons that we couldn't afford to own real versions of. Also, to clarify, whenever we play, we always wear goggles and (most of the time) face masks, 'cause those BBs really hurt, especially on a cold day.

Having fun and interaction with your kids in a wholesome activity is always a good thing. Once of my grandsons loves airsoft, he has several different guns. He started with airsoft at probably age 7 and and 9 he has already killed his first buck. But he stills loves the airsoft. Really mainly just plinks with it like you would do a bb gun. He is not allowed to shoot a bb gun unsupervised, but can shoot the airsoft guns as long as there aren't others in the area.

I tried using airsoft to scare Mexican buzzards off my TV antenna but they just don't phase the birds. Plus they really don't shoot straight...

Airsoft is great fun as long as you have eye protection.

Sorry goes against everything I've ever been taught about gun safety.Don't like or agree with it.

These aren't "guns".

In 1997, I bought 2 airsoft Walther P99s in Hong Kong to play Spy vs. Spy with my buddy, put them in my checked suitcase and got on the plane. Just before we taxied to the runway, a stewardess came to me and said I needed to get off the plane and talk to some people. Two policemen, who could have been my grandsons, met me on the runway in a van with my suitcase, which they asked me to open so I could show them the "guns." They looked them over and asked me why I bought them, which was slightly embarassing to admit, but then they wished me a good time playing 007 and put me back on the plane.

The worst thing is that those particular airsoft models use Freon as a propellant, which is hard to get these days, so they are all but useless.
