I have above rake. it works fine but belt slips. I ordered a 7/8x140" belt for it just because I found a forum online where someone claimed that to be the size. I want to find a parts manual that shows the parts/part numbers/shcematics in it. I want to have spare bearings on the shelf prior to hay season/prior to breaking down in field! I don't want to tear the rake apart just to check and see what the bearings are....... Does anyone know anywhere to find the parts numbers on this AC 78 RAKE?? It's a 4 bar, side delivery rake. Paid 300 bucks for it and was only able to ID it by pics on the internet. It is definitely an AC 78. Any help is appreciated! oh--and how in the heck do you replace the belt? Do I really have to take the ends off the roller bars and u-joint off axel and all that just to replace the belt!??

If it's a hobby, it's fine. haying on a budget with ancient tools can only be a hobby. I sold my last side delivery rake a decade ago and went to rotary rakes. I presently have 2 Kuhn twin rotors at a bit more than 300 bucks each, add some zero's.

Take a rope and put it around the sheaves, pull it tight and where the rope overlaps, mark it and measure the rope. Thats your belt dimension. Never rely on the Internet for hard information. Most people are FOS.

Does anyone have any info on a model 78 allis rake? I do 10 acres 2x per year and this rake is a quiet, smooth, enjoyable machine to pull with a restored 8n (which is actually comfy to steer, sit on etc compared to Kubota which hurts after several hours). I don't want to disassemble the darn thing just to see the bearing numbers.......... I could get a few spare bearings and prevent hay loss or even worse---neighbor intervention.
