- 3550 Fard Backhoe and a 1948 Farmall Cub,
Yesterday I was coming home yesterday and the starter on the service truck engaged and burnt my starter up and a few other near miss catastrophies yesterday. I ordered one that will be in on wednesday and had my market garden work all done. I was getting a little much needed yard work done and some work around the shop and salvage yard. I had been on the skid steer moving some old pallets out to the gravel lot for the forklift to move them to the dumpster. I noticed a strange truck drive by but I didnt think anything of it as my neighbor is sick and I thought it was company. I have a friend that stopped by and he was running the lift for me moving my land scaping boulders and helping me with a large garden art sculpture. I saw him stop the forklift and he pointed in my direction. It was the same truck I had seen earlier. Two guys got out and I shut the loader down. THey intro duced their selves and I did the same. The driver handed me a card saying he was buying scrap and had seen my place riding in a friends plane the day before. I told him it wasnt for sale that I actually used most of it in my side business as a welding shop and surplus parts.
He pointed at an old IH TD9 (m doing some work for a friend on and asked about it giving me prices what he d come take it off my hands for. Then he mentioned The massive Cframe and rake for an AC HD20 I had out back. I told him that it had been sold to a man that was hauling it back to Mexico this fall. I explained that I scrap a few items after I strip them down but usually I sell most of the things as units. He saw my scrap pile and I told them that I had the equipment to load it and access to a roll off truck. I did give him a list of farm equipment and industrial things i was looking for. They left then not 15 minutes later I had another scrapper stop by. We had started moving my aluminum bins for a future trip to a buyer. Iwas transferring a semi loaded can to one that was near full to free up one and this guy pulls up and asks shoots me a whopping offer of 9 cents per pound and i laughed at him. I had to go through the speil of what I bought again and then he insulted my garden art. Which its a garden art project I made fitting my line of work. I have an old track off my dozer at work and my friend and I formed it in the shape of a heart and and then welded it up. We made a base for it to bolt onto a boulder and add a flower pot to. Its pretty massive.
I cant actually tell them not to stop by since the place has a county road running through the middle of it. Then we started to get some stuff done and 2 different carloads of folks stopped trying to get us to sign a petition to try to stop the liquor vote this fall. I think they left discouraged when they saw my friend sitting in the seat of the old dozer with a Budlight in his hand. Then we got busy again and got interupted by my friends wife who was 3 levels poed that he was at myhouse sitting on his old dozer drinking a budlight. Then I got her to calm down and got him out of the dog house after she saw the artsy fartsy dozer track sculpture. So now we have another one to build. We got started back a bit before dark then the Hyster went dead the propane tank was empty and I had loaned my spare out. Sine it was so late I just too the skid steer and shoved it off into the ditch out of the road. We did get a good bit done but it would have been amazing if we had nt been tied up all those times. Normally this place is a ghost town after 5. I ve still got about 15 five gallon cans of miscellanious hardware to sort in the shop. It does feel good to get alot done that Ive wanted to do for a while.
