Made lots of progress during breaks and lunch at work getting my b7100 work ready. Got the oil pressure gauge installed in the broken hour meter location, carries 50psi cold on old oil. Got the whole thing repainted, used the newer kubota orange (I like it better than the older/lighter color). I am now waiting on a new seat, hood decals, new glow plugs, shifter boot and a PTO shaft seal to fix the puddle that keeps forming under the back end. I will probably drain the rear end and pull the cover plate for the seal tomorrow at lunch. Just 6 bolts for that. Hopefully do an oil change on it as well. Cheers Mike

A couple months ago someone posted that you don't need to pull the PTO cover to change the seal, you can replace it from the outside. I had been sitting on the seal and cover gasket for a year waiting to drain the rear end.... turns out it really is just a 2 minute deal! Pull the old one out from the outside, make sure everything is clean and slide in the new one, thats it!

BTW I'd like to see some pics on the oil pressure gage, been thinking of doing that and temperature myself.

I had already drained the rear end and I pulled the cover today. The fluid looked awfull so I am glad I changed it. I also changed the engine oil. No parts showed up today so she sits torn down waiting on them to show up. I will get pics as soon as I get her back home. That will hopefully be tomorrow. Cheers Mike

Give the B7100 a try with the woods RM42 tonight, didnt last long, she heats up way to much and the radiator core is leaking. I looked up the rad prices online, all I can say is someone is **** proud of them radiators!! Heck, the new rad in our jeep was half that much. Tractorsmart wants $396ish for a new rad for my tractor. I will have to look around town and price getting it recored localy. Guess she is gonna sit till this fall. With my truck needing a new engine, a new or rebuilt rad for the bota is way down on the list. Cheers and I will see you guys later. Mike

i can only imagine you already checked - but it's not a simple hose or cap leak?

if the radiator isn't in terrible shape they can repair it for a few dollars depending where the leak is. might be worth a shot at least if it's the differences between using it or not.

car-parts.com is a great place for your truck engine too if you need a cheap source for that. it's a database of most of the junk yards nationwide.

have fun,
Gary

In my nearly 30 year's experience with a 7100HST, I finally learned that I need to take the radiator off about once a year and rinse it out, either with a garden hose or even better with a pressure washer. You can't get everything out with it on the tractor. Overheating has always been a problem with the 7100HST, but Kubota has been reluctant to admit it. I do blow it out with air or the pressure washer in between mowings, and that helps, but with the radiator off it makes a big difference.

This rad has seen better days, the core is shot, the tubes are paper thin in places and leaking in several. I can get a new one at cost from where I work, remember I am a Kubota dealer mechanic. I know how critical a good flowing and clean rad is to these tractors, espicaliy with a constant load like mowing on the engine. Just gonna be a bit, need to get an older Cub Cadet and a few implements sold to restock the tractor funds, before I can order the new radiator. Mike
