Hello all,

I just joined the forum last weekend - found it as I was doing some research on Kioti vs Kubota tractors.

I have around 30 acres here in Hawaii where under the right conditions, the "guinea" grass grows about 1.5 inches a day and will get over 6 foot tall if not kept in check. My Cub Cadet GT1554 (which was really never made to take such a beating) has been (sort of) doing the job, but is now breaking down much too regularly as I expand my mowing horizons and so it's time to move up to something substantially more capable.

Aside from Grass/Brush cutting, I am also looking to get some farming and landscaping activities started for which a larger machine would really come in handy. I am currently considering a Kioti LK30 or CK30 outfitted with backhoe, loader, and brush cutter.

WOW! Acreage in Hawaii! We love Lahaina on Maui. Drool over the forest perimeters there. Gotta love it.

What kind of land do you have there? Lots of rocks?

We visited the big island a few years ago, we stayed on the Kona side at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. It was beautiful. We also visited Hilo on the way to the Volcanoes National Park. You live in a paradise. I'll keep your info handy. We've been wanting to come back. Good luck on your tractor search.

A few answers to questions:

Pearl Harbor is on Oahu - The Big Island of "Hawaii" is where we've still got some active volcanoes (e.g. Kilauea), plus Mauna Kea summit (with several world-class observatories), and of course the famous Kona Coffee comes from here.

I'm on the Hamakua Coast which is on the Eastern shore, north of Hilo - it's mostly rich, deep soil here which is the envy of many islanders who have only rock. This land was previously sugar plantations before everything got exported elsewhere. Nowadays, there are a variety of ag activities including cattle grazing, exotic fruits & nuts, some coffee farms, etc.
