Tiller alternative tiller tines

Can someone give me a link to where I might find some better tiller tines for my JD 42'' hydraulic tiller. The stock tines wear out in
no time.

Take one of the tines to a machine shop and have them check it for hardness and possibly see if they can tell you what kind of steel it is. You may have got a bad part if the steel isn't tough enough.

Kuhn makes optional tines for their tillers depending on how tough the conditions will be. I'd look for a Kuhn dealer and see if the tines might interchange. It's a real long shot.

I have gone to the local Farm Supply store where they have a book with many different tiller blades. Specifications are listed. Ended up using some Landpride Tines on a Farm King Tiller. Saved me a trip of 100 miles to a dealer. Mine don't wear out, they break from hitting rocks.

The set of tines I got from deere where $250.00 and are showing heavy wear after 30 hrs. in clay

Sometimes a manufacturer turns out a run of defective parts. A lot of companies even when they know the parts are bad will continue to sell them until they get rid of the inventory. I'm not sure why clay is wearing your tines so fast. Do you have a lot of sand in the clay?

There does not appear to be anything much other than pure clay.
Whats weird, This time around the outter end tines have worn the worst, not sure why. For $250.00 a set I would think that they would hold up better than that. The original set of tines did the same thing.

There is a company called Clean-Cutter that makes replacment tines for tillers and cutters for flails.

Thanks for all the leads.. But its looking like either I will have to stay with the JD tines,(which I will not) or get a tiller for My bx and hope the tines are better.

Having read all the posts in this thread, I can say that all failures in tiller tines mentioned above are due to incorrect heat treatments of the tines. This incorrect/improper heat treatments are done for 2 reasons; 1- lack of good knowledge of heat treatment methods 2- intentionally improper heat treatment (to sell more tines as spare parts). If even Landpride tines are broken when they hit a small stone of Egon, then somethings wrong there.
