In January 2018 I purchased a used New Holland Workmaster 40 and Loader that had 96 hours. I completely serviced it and now have 250 hours without any problems. However, I am preparing for when I have to do some parts replacement and a couple of items are a starter and alternator. The NH Starter P/N's are MT40006954 or MT40334005. The list price for these from NH are $470! I had just purchased a denso starter for a 1983 similar size kubota for under a $100. Needless to say I found the $470 unacceptable at best. I have found a replacement starter with these P/N's from DB Electrical for $215.70 which includes free shipping and one year warranty. Unfortunately they didn't carry an after market alternator. I haven't been able to find the OEM manufacturer name for these yet.
The NH Alternator P/N is MT40006956. Unfortunately DB Electrical didn't have this item and couldn't cross it. The list price for this is $500.96 !!! The Alternator is a 4 wire system. A single large wire for main power, a single black wire for? and a duplex colored wire for? I suspect these last three wires are for the Tachometer and Hour meter. BTW the Workmaster 40 is really a re-branded LS G3038. The part numbers are the same but with an LS prefix rather then MT. Has anyone any experience or knowledge buying an after market alternator to replace this P/N? When it warms up I'll remove the alternator to see if I can find any OEM mfg. etc on it. Nothing was on the sides that presented themselves.
