Anyone know who makes aluminum dump trailers? I am looking for a 14000gvw 16 foot dump, and I want to haul a machine in it, so the only way I can stay legal is if its aluminum. But they are hard to find. Is there anyone who makes them?
Thanks.

Seem like aluminum would tear up easy in a dump trailer. Most steel dump trailers I see are beat up pretty good.

I will line it with plywood and use it to haul aggregates. Lots of the big ones are aluminum and they seem to last. I understand I would have to be careful, but thats ok.

If you do find one it will be horribly expensive.

Mind if I ask why it needs to be aluminum?

Aluminum holds up just fine under bulk conditions as long as the loader operator has half a brain or so and rolls the bucket so as gently start filling the body. Slam dunk and even steel will warp.

Years ago, a contractor I worked for used aluminum bodies for general hauling which included a lot of shale straight out of the bank. His operators were also his brothers so they took the time to do it right. If he leased out his trucks, he watched the loader operator on someone elses truck. If he did not like what he saw, he pulled his trucks off of the job.

The floors did eventually warp over time but it took a lot of loads to do so.

It needs to be aluminum because I want to pull a 10000 pound machine in it behind my pickup. The steel ones are just to heavy to do that. If I can make it work, then I don't need to buy a dump and an equipment trailer, so that helps out with justifying the cost as well.

On my steel dump trailer the paint gets all chipped up on the tops of the bed and the fenders etc. The loader operator can be the most careful guy in the world but falling gravel does a number on the paint when dribbled from a 20 ton bucket into a smaller than big rig sized trailer. I can only imagine what an aluminum trailer would look like after a little use:eek:

I have never seen an aluminum dump trailer, and when I looked into buying mine I looked at over 50 manufacturers...there are tons of manufacturers out there, they might not advertise, but maybe they can build you one...not sure how much weight you would save vs durability...eventually you'll run into, dent it, ding it anyway so paint inside the trailer should be an issue. In NYS you can have a GCWR of 26,000 w/o CLD. I have a 12K 6.5 x 12 Cornpro Deckover that can take a machine with ramps that store under the bed. It gets a little hairy loading my subcompact backhoe into it with the angle, but I didn't want a low profile because they have a lot of clearance when the trailer dumps so they don't dump loads as well as a deck over. My trailer is heavy, almost 3500#, and the GVWR includes the trailer weight, so I should only have 8500# in it. It is a beast, real heavy duty! PJ and Cornpro I think are the only ones that make a deckover with ramps. Plus mine has a drop down side which is great for loading sheetrock, plywood, etc. and since my tractor doesn't have a lot of clearance under the front bucket it makes loading the trailer easier too...

what exactly are you loading into a dump trailer that
a. weighs 10,000lbs
b. fits into 16 feet
