I just bought a 7 yr old aluminum single axle utility trailer. It's in really good shape but the aluminum has lost it's shine. I'd like to get back that shine a new trailer has. I found a product online called Streak Master. They claim their product will work for that.

Has anyone used this product or one like it? Do they work well?

The trailer has a bed made off green-treated 2x6's and I don"t want those to get all discolored either.

I have heard that semi trailers are brightened at truck washes by using a acid in a pump up garden sprayer then rinsed off with water. I think its hydrofluoric acid but not sure.

I would be interested in this also. We have some aluminum boat trailers that are getting dull.

The truck wash has a acid that will clean a badly faded cattle trailer to a new look.
Don't know the name of the acid but it works good.
And not what would call expensive cost.

I work at a truck shop and we use a brightener chemical (acid) and it works well. When Im at work today Ill try to see what the ingrediants are or the name of the stuff. It is pretty potent though, we wear rubber gloves, apron, and face shield when using it. We use it on fuel tanks, wheels, trailers, etc.

The Blue Beacon truck wash near me does the acid wash for $25 or $30 according to a friend who had a horse trailer done recently.
I don't like it because the aluminum gets chalky and white in a short time. I use a Mothers power ball in a drill with some polish on my horse trailer. Yes it takes a while and most folks call me crazy, but it looks a lot better that the acid wash. My BIL does the same thing to his boat trailer. I usually posish mine once a year and it looks better than new. I probably would not go through that much trouble on a utility trailer, but to each his own.

what you are referring to is hydrofluoric acid. you can get it in a concentrated form and mix 1 to 10 water ratio. The biggest problem is that when applying, you must not let it dry out till you rinse it off.
