Kioti CK30HST
This will be my 1st tractor so I need some help. Am I comparing apples to apples when I'm looking at a Kioti CK20HST and a MF GC2300? When I consider HP, I think I am but the pricing doesn't look that way. The CK w/FEL is 14,000 and the GC w/FEL is 10,950. Love to save money but I don't want to find out I was comparing apples and oranges.

Thanks in advance for your comments,
Bob

Hi rfmr, welcome to the board! I checked the specs page for both tractors you're considering. A few differences: Kioti - nearly twice the ground clearance (12.2 in. vs. 6.9 in); hydraulic flow more (7.7 gpm vs. 6.1), position control vs. no position control, plus I think the Kioti will take a backhoe, to name a few. The MF GC2310 includes a backhoe, but unless you buy an aftermarket product (not MF), it's not avaialable for the GC2300. Plus the GC2300 has "limited" Cat. 1 3 pt. hitch. The "limit" is the height, primarily.

I love my 2300, but it's considered a sub-compact. I believe the Kioti is a compact. All depends on what you're doing, but the implements for the sub-compacts tend to run a bit on the light side. Personally with what know now, I think the position control would be a really good feature to have. Also, I sometimes wish I had a backhoe, and the clearance is definately an issue if you operate in the woods at all.

I'm sure others will chime in, but these are a few important distinctions between your top contenders. If you have any questions about the GC2300, feel free to send me a PM. Also, check the archives for info on both tractors; I know there's plenty there.

Good luck to you!

I don't know much about Kioti but I do think the CK20 is a compact and the GC is a sub compact. I think what might help us all here more is tell us what you are going to be doing with the tractor. This way we can steer you in a direction of HP and Classification. Then I would go out and start looking at tractors. Don't try and fit the jobs to the tractor but lets get a tractor that fits your jobs.

I know prices have gone up a bit; nevertheless that seems quite a high price for just a CK20 with FEL. I'm sure you can do quite a bit better than that. As to your comparison no you certainly are not comparing apples to apples. Without looking up the stats I'd guess the CK20 weighs 500 to 600 pounds more and has a much higher lift capacity with the FEL and on the 3pt. That’s not to say the MF GC2300 isn't the right tractor for you. A much better comparison would be between the GC2300 and the Kubota BX2230 the CK20 is in another class altogether.

I think the Massey Ferguson that you'd need to compare with CK20 would be the MF 1523. Both are small-framed compacts whereas the GC2300 is a sub-compact.

Thanks for the input. I didn't think they were equals but needed to make sure.

I'm been leaning to the Kioti because of the proximity and reputation of the dealer. So today after cleaning up from a 14" snowfall I went to the dealer and ended up buying an LB1914 w/ FEL and 60" rear snowblower. I know it's not the CK20 but I had to stay within a budget and it will easily handle what I need to do.

Like many others out there I've followed this forum for awhile and appreciate the wealth of knowledge from its members.

Hopefully the next storm will hold off until the tractor arrives.

Thanks again,
Bob

The jd 2210 fits in here too.

Not too sure on the comparison, but I have a 2005 CK20HST for sale if you're interested. Loader, loaded rear tires, rear auxiliary hydraulics, R4 tires, 15 hours. Perfect shape but my conditions have changed and I need to sell. Dealer serviced for winter, balance of 2 yr warranty from 6/2005 purchase. Runs and works great! Tractor is in NH. Jim

Jim - Thanks for the offer but I bought the LB1914. If only I had waited maybe this would have worked out. Hope your situation change is for the better.
