I picked a car buyer' s guide magazine to pass some time during a flight today. I still associate Ford & New Holland, but correct me if I am wrong, but Ford is completely out of the picture. So we have Case New Holland which is owned by Fiat. We'll, I read today that GM is a 20% owner of Fiat. So my Ford tractor is part Chevy. Isn't big business wonderful. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

P.S. Fiat owns 5.6% of GM.

Fiat's car division has no ties with the tractor division and are owned by differnet companies.

Prpbably good that Fiat's car division is a separate entity.....Otherwise the fibreglas/plastic fenders on my NH TC40 would have found a way to rust off in the first 2 weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robert,

I decided to do some research on Fiat. Fiat Auto Holdings B.V. and CNH Global N.V. are both sectors in the Fiat SpA group. Fiat SpA owns 80% of Fiat Auto & GM owns 20% of Fiat Auto. So you are right and I'm not driving a C***y (no more desicration for me /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif), but I found something worse on their website. Although my TC was assembled in the good ole US of A, CNH will start assembling some New Hollands in China. Aaargh!! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif See below:

In April 2001, an important agreement was signed with the Shanghai Tractor and Internal Combustion Engine Corporation, creating a joint venture to produce, distribute and export agricultural tractors with engine powers up to 100 Hp. The joint venture will enable CNH to offer a range of New Holland products in a very promising market, and to play a part in the globalization of the Chinese market.

NH assembles tractors in a lot of different countries. A lot of tractors that are assembled elsewhere never are offered in the US. It sounds like the ones they are building in China are staying in China to help that market.

Care to guess how long before we start seeing some "Grey" Blues? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm hoping they are only exporting to other Asian countries, or at least until Chinese manufacturing quality reaches acceptable levels for competitvie markets.
