There are usually differences in anything you buy. From what I've gathered both here and by seeing different products by various manufacturers you can buy different quality levels in about anything in the marketplace. I think the consensus here would be that Landpride is a quality brand and priced accordingly. Howse is going to be less expensive and built accordingly. It comes down to your budget and your intended use and expectations.

Price isn't the "be all, end all" determinent of the level of quality but it can generally be a pretty good clue in many instances. There are always exceptions, however, and it is for those we must constantly watch.

I just bought a box blade by a new manufacturer (First Choice) that I would describe as Landpride quality or better at fairly near a Howse price. Those kinds of situations are not all that common, but mark a wonderful buying opportunity when you find them. In this case the manufacturer is new and making tremendous efforts to gain a foothold in the marketplace by offering a high quality product at a more than competative price.

I've read here that, for the money, King Kutter makes a good product. Apparently there is one exception to that in their line. Again, from reading here, apparently their tillers are outstanding in terms of quality at any price, expecially at the price at which King Kutter sells them. The consensus appears to be that you can spend a lot more and not get much more or even as much as what they offer on that particular attachment.

Do your homework, do some shopping, ask questions here, use the "Search" feature and you'll be in great shape. Good luck with whatever you decide to buy. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

<font color=blue>experience for me is something i needed before i bought <font color=black>

Experience is always the best teacher -- especially if it is someone else's experience. It would take a couple of lifetimes to get the experience that you can pick up in a few days on TBN.

Check into the Leinbach line. I paid $379 for a 6 foot rake and $250 for the guide wheels -- minus a 5% discount since I ordered them at the same time. I am very pleased with the quality. It is very stoutly built, and the guide wheels are laminated (no flats/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif).

You should look at First Choice. They are making some great equipment at ever better prices.

Brandon, I'd have suggested that, too, but for one thing. I don't think First Choice makes a rake at this time.

If I'm not mistaken JimMc indicated that First Choice is looking into manufacturing them in the future. I don't recall the thread, but I think he was asking opinions on what to and not to include, etc.

Can't tell what area you're from by your profile, but this place is in SE PA. It's a good place to see what things go for in this area:

Actually Gary, we offer rakes in 3 models and sizes from 5 to 8 feet, all available with guage wheels as an option. One particular model I'm quite proud of is the LR21 Series which is built on a tilt blade frame. With guage wheels and the tilt index pin removed, it allows the rake to float behind the tractor, even while crossing swales at an angle and the tines can follow the ground contour independent of tractor.

Oops! /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif I stand corrected. My apologies.

I thought I recalled you asking about whether TBN'ers wanted fold down blades, etc. If my recollection on that is correct (and now I'm questioning that, too), maybe I assumed you weren't producing them yet as opposed to asking about options on your existing product. On the other hand, maybe I was just hallucinating altogether. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

It's been over 90 all week here. Can I get away with blaming the heat? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

In any event, thanks for the correction. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Not a problem! Yes, I did ask about blade and end plate options, so you're not losing it. We really appreciate your enthusiasm and knowledge as well as your business. TBN is the best place to "get the skinny". You guys are great!

Jim, I think Gary is pushing for a sales rep job in Indiana. Hook him up baby!! (Gary for you that means lots of implements to "test" for a few years)

Also, it might be nice to have the current list of FC implements posted somewhere. bw
