Maybe I talk about tractors a little too much around the family. Yesterday, I took my 2 year old grandson next door to see the nice buck my neighbor got while hunting. When we got home I told my wife about the nice deer he got. She asked "what kind of deer was it?" Before I could answer, my grandson shouted "a John Deer".

Well, that is why we have TBN. We can talk tractors all the time with people who want to talk about them!

I agree with the pedal tractor. My wife wants to get my grandson a battery powered John Deere tractor for Christmas and I disagree. I feel that a youngster should get all the exercise possible to keep him healthy and prevent him from growing up to be a couch potato. She says that all the neighbors kids have them and that he could operate it a lot better than a pedal one. What do Y'all think?

I agree tallyho. Kids now days need lots of exerise. I rode my bicycle all over the hills where I grew up. And now love to ride a bike. What's the old saying? Use it or lose it!!!!!!!!

I had a pedal tractor as a kid. 'Course, I didn't have any neighbors, so I wouldn't have known what I was missing. But we had a little wagon for it, so I could pull my brother around if I wanted. The local county fair had a kiddie tractor pull that used one, too. My parents eventually had to get a new drive wheel for it, because I wore all the tread off.

The local JD dealer had a pretty good-looking metal pedal tractor last time I was there. I'd buy one.

Yes, my guess is the pedal tractor will far outlast (and probably outpull) the battery powered ones. Reminds me of the joke where a little boy saw his grandad winding his wristwatch. He asked him what he was doing. He said "I am winding up my watch". The boy said "why don't you just change the battery?" Grandad says it doesn't have a battery, to which the boy says, "a watch without a battery, what will they think of next."
