Or am I just being a customer from Hxll:mad:, Is a farm equipment dealer obligated to tell a customer that an expensive ($20K+) piece of equipment was make in 2012,( I only found out by the serial #) although identical to one made in late 2014. If he were $1000 -$2000 cheaper, I would be more open minded, but he was only couple hundred bucks cheaper.
Thanks

Not wrong, but tractors, are not sold like cars, where year of manufacture means everything in relation to its value. Unless there were major upgrades to the model or to a lesser extent there is cosmetic wear on the older model, your tractor made in 2012 is considered the same as a 2014 model. What is the difference? None. The number of hours on a tractor and how it was maintained and taken care of is the determining factor. Unlike a 2012 car which is worth considerably less than a 2014 car even if they both have 4 miles on the odometer, it just is not so for the tractor. Number of hours and condition is what to look for.

The biggest problem is when the tractor has been left out in the elements resulting in aged, faded paint and older tires.

Agreed, that is when the dealers, will usually start cutting off the dollars.

Well, its not a tractor, its a Hay baler, Sorry if I put in the wrong forum...But it still been setting on the lot for 2 - to almost 3 years..... and I couldn't tell by looking at it at the lot that it had set out..

My motto is " Never trust a salesman ".
Do your homework, ask a ton of questions before purchasing, and then live happily ever after with the results.
Also, after the purchase, quit looking, cause you will always find another one that supposedly is a better deal.

Look at the cup being half full instead of half empty. The way manufacturers are cutting every possible corner these days, it's possible your 2012 model was better quality than a 2014 model.

Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it on a piece of equipment. If it had been sitting out in the weather for 2 or 3 years, you could tell it. And it's possible the dealer did a trade with another dealer and didn't really know it was a 2012 model. I suspect most of us have no idea of when our implements were made.
