Amana heat pumps /ac

Our central air went bad at the end of the cooling season last year. We are looking to replace it with a heat pump/ac. We have inquired about an Amana brand. Anyone know anything about them? Is Amana any good? We got shot a pretty good price on it. 10 year warranty. I want to look at maybe a couple other brands. Any recomendations?

AMANA is a brand name that does not manufacture much except appliances. Their AC/HP is probably made by someone else and has their brand. I would stay with the traditional names that make AC equipment specifically. Carrier, Trane, Lennox (they tend to be the most expensive and probably not any better), Bryant, Rheem, York to name a few. I used to service AC in my younger day. If you can afford it and want the best energy effeciency; look into the ground source heat pumps. They do not need supplement gas or electric booster heaters in colder weather. They can also provide hot water.

Amana name is owned by Goodman. Any unit is a good unit. The install is what counts. Amana/Goodman use copeland scroll compressors,as do many other companies.I install Trane because people want them. I install way more Goodman products. I like Goodman & have have very good luck with my Goodman installs.
I can buy any brand I want. The next unit that goes in my home to replace the current Goodman?? Another Goodman
