Found another good use for the tractor tonight; taking trash out to the end of the 1/4 mile drive...

If you're tying stuff to the wheels to gain traction, BACK UP. That means that the force on the wheels pushes the front end of the tractor down.

If you try to drive forward, at least in theory, locking the rears you can lift the front tires off of the ground which then can be a very dangerous situation.

Thanks for that reminder, and the physics lesson. I'm a volunteer firefighter/EMT and we've actually run calls on farmers that have done similar things before, normally on much bigger machines, but going backwards is definitely the best way to get unstuck.
