Pardon my venting, but -

- two lane road, speed limit 55 mph, left lane is blocked by a car doing anywhere between 45 and 55 mph. Right lane is over 60, the slow driving moron does not give a #%#%^ and does not even consider to move over. Typically because he will be turning left in 5, 10 or 20 miles and he wants to be ready.

When you finally get by him you have one or two miles before you meet another one of the same breed. Sometimes those are old timers, or really scared minorities:) - but most of the time it is a soccer mom or a guy talking on the phone.

Now drivers like this exist in every country I will give you that - but only in America I meet them consistently every day and almost on every road. Just look on any interstate, cars are moving forward in clusters of the same speed with space in between them - in Germany for example you will see steady line of cars in right line and faster cars zipping by in the left lane. Left lane is meant for passing.

OK, got it off my chest, now you can give me piece of your mind:D

The company I work for requires us to do some international travel. From what I have seen and others I have heard about from fellow employees, I will take American drivers any day. Not the best, but there is certainly much worse.

You got some truth here. When I go back overseas and drive in Prague - where I grew up, got my drivers license and spent many years driving - I am nervous. The roads are narrower, there is less space, local drivers have their safe distances set much shorter than I am used to from Virginia. Some european cities are really bad - NYC is nothing compare to Europe and form what I heard asian cities are the worst.

In Oregon many moons ago, it was posted and enforced that the left lane(s) were for passing only. Worked good. Don't know if it's still that way or not.

I'm road rage free. :) I learned a long time ago to just take thing's in stride and not worry about it. When I must be somewhere at a certain time I make sure I leave early in case I run into slow drivers or accidents. When I get behind a slow driver now day's I just keep my 2-3 car length distance and smile. If the oportunity comes up to pass them I do. In fact with my current outlook it's rather funny to drive now day's. I just laugh at all the fools driving like own the road and shaking their fist at people. Sure helps to keep the blood preasure down. :)

I feel your pain. I think cars should come with large cannons mounted on both the front and on the rear of the car. The one on the front could hydraulically raise with plenty of strobes to give the offending driver you just mentioned plenty of time to think about he/she is doing. If they are on a single lane road and doing the speed limit fine, but on a multiple lane, crusing the faster lanes below the speed limit and won't budge, cannon fodder. That would be a blast. The same then would apply to those narcissistic ones who tailgate well above the speed limit on a single lane road. Again a hydraulicly raised cannon rises out of the back but this time the raising would be the only warning. That would be so much fun. :p

It's illegal in most states to pass on the right. I know it is in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Mornin Prokop,
Yep we got plenty of them over here ! The guy with the cell phone wasnt me, I dont own one ;)

My favorite was when my wife and I visited Ireland last year :) Going 100 km down a country road on the opposite side  and having just enough room to get by the oncoming vehicle with just a click of the mirrors  ;) :)

That my friend was great fun !

I would like a device to disconnect the phone call - or the phone would give her electrical zapp:)
