Anybody run Amsoil Dominator in chainsaws? I used to / usually run the factory Husky XP 50:1 but was sold some Dominator because:
1. I no longer shop at my local Husky dealer, but the Stihl dealer only has Stihl Dino oil (the synthetic isnt available in Canada)
2. I wanted to try some synthetics to see if I could get the smell down and the performance up.
After about 1/2 a tank. it seems the saw is running cleaner and seems to rev faster. Could be psychosomatic, but it feels better to me. Its an 562xp. Smell is definitely better too
They I got looking on Arborist site, where many say dont run it! but run the Sabre Professional
There are comments that the Dominator takes out bottom ends..
"i can speak with authortiy on this subject as I build high performance 2 stroke engines for atvs sleds and dirtbikes my company is called flotek performance ,over the years i have seen first hand the damage amsoil (mostly dominator)does (esp, crank bearings ),dont kid yourself by reading the back of a bottle ,more oil always ~equals less friction(a 2stroke losses 30% of its potential power by friction) more oil makes more power as well as extends relibility the best premix oil i have found is klotz supertechnaplate at 32-1 on a dyno and on the track it will make the most power and contains castor which offers superior protection at high rpms "

Get on the phone with Amsoil ASAP and they say that yes, the Sabre is designed for chainsaws, but the Dominator is almost just as good, just run it at 50:1 (which Id do anyways). It should be as good or better than the XP oil I was running, they both are TC rated oils, not that TC is the worlds best rating..
Even after talking to the tech rep at Amsoil, Im still a little concerned by the comments on AS, but dont know how much weight to put on them.
Any good experiences running Dominator? Any Horror stories?
