Good Evening Guys,
I thought some of our more "Senior Members" might remember these old extinguishers ? This is an old Badgers that has been converted to my reading lamp ! :) It works great at its new job ! ;)

I really get a kick out of the instruction plate on the side, turn upside down To Play ! :)

I sure remember those old soda-activated fire extinguishers. I also remember the fire department coming to our elementary school and showing us how they worked. As a matter of fact, I think every school I went to up through high school had some of those extinguishers. Yours is a nice piece and a great use of the remaining can.

Yep, sure saw lots of those extinguishers in years past. I guess I was just lucky in never seeing one used to fight fire.:) And I'd never seen one used as a lamp either; pretty neat.

If an original Badger-can were to come up at auction, what do you folks think it might be worth (decent condition of course)? I've been looking around for something like this to make into a lamp.

Yours is done nicely. :)

Mornin Peter,
I got that one for nothing and had to put a bit of elbow grease into buffing it up and such ! They are still available at tag sales and antique spots. They made so many of them that they are still pretty abundant. If I found one that was all corroded and such, I dont think I would want to pay much more that $10 or $20 bucks. That would be with no major dents and all it needed was some TLC. You might also think about bringing a piece of scotchbrite cloth with you to check out what you have also !;)

Brasso and a seaman-duece with lots of elbow grease can keep anything shining. Right Mark?
