Analog to Digital?

I would like to take a cassette tape and get the infomation on it onto my computers hard drive. How can this be done other then by a microphone? Thanks in advance, Rat

Cable out from Cassette OUT 3.5 mm jack TO -> Computer Auxiliary IN 3.5 mm jack

Start your favorite “record” program on computer, start your play on external cassette

When complete, save file on computer as “wav” or other selected format… you can later convert “wav” to mp3…

Radio Shack sells a cable that goes between the output jacks on a cassette deck into the input jack on a sound card. I do this all the time. You will need software that record off the input from the sound card. CoolEdit 2000 works well.

Wait a minute here, you did not specify if you are using a low-level output of the cassette unit or a headphone jack output. You attempt to try that if the output is not compatable to the input of your soundcard in the computer, you'll get nothing but a garbled mess.

I use a portable (walkman style) mp3 cd player and it has 2 outputs one for a cassete adapter or of course the headphones and either works... I just have to turn the volume down low to prevent noise if using the headphone jack...

in this case of course the casset adapter is translating...

Or are you folks talking about ( for example) The output, like you find on upper end car audio that goes out to an amp? Same concept?

Just curious....

I've considering doing the same thing with some of my old favorite cassetes.

I was referring to a home cassette deck that has stereo input and and stereo output jacks.
