Can anyone led me to a site that may have boat anchor patterns, I need to make one for my housboat. (sorry this seems non tractor related, but tractors will help in it's launch /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So! It's ready for launch! Congratulations!! The starting pics were neat...any of the finished product? It wasn't that long ago you started this project. Are you looking for something like a Danforth? I'll be going out to the boat on Wednesday and will measure up mine and will post back....

I intend to launch the houseboat in the first or second week of May. The move is going to be a logistical challenge, just trying to coordinate trucks and cranes at the same time is proving difficult. At the moment I am making beams to sit on a low loader. these beams will carry the boat from under the pontoons.
A danforth is probably the way to go I just need a pattern. It would be appreciated if I got some measurements.

I hope to have a video of the boat in the next week or so.

Sorry, Daedong. Didn't make oit to the boat as I had hoped. Had a fairly heavy storm today and stayed at the house. Good thing, as the power went out for over 6 hours. WILL get to it this Friday.

A dandforth is a great solid anchor. Remember to make the pivot such that 1. it stops at a good enough angle for the dig at a near horizontal pull (always let out plenty or rode and a great length of heavy galvanized chain assisting in laying down the rode for making the anchor bite) 2. Letting it have enough swivel to be able to pull it from the set Just going to a boat place and playing with a good dansforth will give you a good idea. By the looks of your fabrication skills, you'll probably make a better anchor than you can buy! I'd say go for several smaller anchors instead of one big one. You can stay your houseboat's orientation that way. Buy lots and lots and LOTS of line for your anchors and shore moorings. Tree straps and large steel pipes hammered in the ground are good too. Where are you going to have your boat?

Finally made it to the boat Wednesday. Had a weekend blizzaed, much rain, yadda, yadda, yadda. I have pictures on the cell phone camera, need to learn how to load them in to the 'puter. In the meantime, I hand sketched the anchor and took many doimensions. WIll transfer them to a more sensible form to send. Will do that hopefully in two days. Launch time is coming up soon for you, and I need to get them to you quickly. I agree with the assesment of using two anchors. Three is ideal. Two off the bow in a 'Y' fashion and one off the stern will keep it from swinging.
