And you thought modern attachments were unsafe?

Maybe I'm missing something, but as long as you have a live/independent PTO this doesn't look that unsafe to me. Tillers and brushhogs can mangle you too. At least with this it would be really obvious if it's running or not.

Now, with a continuous running PTO, I can see this being incredibly dangerous...

I sure wish that they were closer. I would put a bid in on that for sure. I have been thinking about making a tree shear for some time, but that would work just as good if not better. I need to start looking for a used gear box off of a rotary cutter.

That thing is awsome! I want one.:D Wait a minute....I don't need one.

I can see how it would be unsafe for those not on the tractor.

I bet the thing would be a great 'crowd dispersal tool' if you had some rowdy people you wanted to dispence with..... :) I could see a problem with trying to cut a tree with it, the weight of the tree would bind up the saw. The gearbox doesn't look like it could take a lot of strain. Might want to have a re-enforced cab on your tractor, too.....

Well let's see -- it's pretty much a toss up if farming or logging is a more dangerous occupation. This combines both !

Yea we had a cord wood saw that ran off the tractors 3 point hitch when I was a kid. The blade was vertical though. I still have night terrors about that thing. I don't
think I will ever get over my fear of that thing. I don't even know why I am afraid of it, I can never remember not being terrified of it.

Tillers and brush hogs have some protective shielding. I could see this thing hitting and old spike in a tree and things shattering and shrapnel flying in every direction.

At least you sit up on the tractor to operate that thing.

Here's a 30 inch buzz saw that you stand right up to and it throws the chips in your face. No thanks.
