Another 3316 HST 4WD question

I am new to this tractor operating with just 20 hours on my 3316, The problem I have is when I used my Box Blade today (JD50) with the tractor in the medium range and 2000 rpm I hear a noise that sounds like gears that are grinding. Am I doing something wrong or is this a manufacturers defect? I also noticed when I used my pallet forks to move some horse stalls 2= 500# and the lift just stops and won't lift, but after a few minutes it seemed to work ok. I am use to lifting materials with a fel and it raising the rear tires if not ballasted correctly. Is this a defective machine or am I going about it all wrong?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Randall, check and see if your PTO is engaged. When it is, and you push in the clutch, you will get what sounds like a very fast ticking sound This is normal, and nothing to worry about. However, if what you are hearing is truly and grinding noise while the PTO isn't engaged, I'd have it checked out.

As to your lifting situation; check you hydraulic fluid. It sounds like it could be low, or you have air trapped in the system. Finally, it you haven't had your rear tires filled - it is almost mandatory for proper ballast when lifting. The 3316 is a fine machine, and I'm sure you will get things worked out soon.

I had a grinding sound from our 2810 once. It wouldn't do it under light/no load. turns out the 4wd just wasn't engaged all the way.

I would try shifting out and then back into 4wd. if it is really stiff (like mine) you will think your in all the way, but your not. I had to actuate the 4wd linkage down at the transmission which got it fully engaged.
