Agreed, if it were me I wouldn't worry too much about the particles in the oil at this point, probably normal as you said.

Crinton, look at it this way... your tractor is telling you it's time for some TLC. Once you get the loader stuff off you might as well do what maintenance you can while it's apart. I strongly recommend a new pulley, I think they're under $40 for a nice billet one and you won't have to worry about getting the old one straight.

This is just me, but I'd do a compression check while I'm at it and replace the front seal, maybe pull the timing cover and check it out... your knock could be in there, too. If she's been a good tractor for you then it would be worth going the extra mile and freshen 'er up some, y'know? ;)
