some history first........
Rebuilt engine, converted to 12volt system, new coil, points, but was using old carb
When I was using the old carb, tractor started all the time, half throttle, choke it and it would fire right up. But I was having issues at full throttle under load and the main mixture screw wasn't having any affect.
I had rebuilt the carb before but the carb bowl was pitted badly in the area of the main mixture needle seat area. So I figured a new carb was in order.
Now to the issue, since putting on the new carb the tractor starts really hard. Any choke and it floods. Eventually with the throttle at idle I can get it to start (well most times). Once started and warmed up it runs great under load. I used the instructions posted on this site to adjust the new carb.
What am I missing on the carb settings? why does it start so hard now and flood so easy?
Or could I have an electrical issue? Like I said once started it runs great, but getting it started is a half hour chore of cranking and hoping it starts at idle. It will fire and sputter but just doesn't start and then one time after cranking it eventually will kick over and start.
Using starter fluid will get it fire up.
Right now it's sitting in my back field because I had it sitting at idle while I was off the tractor and it stopped. Couldn't get it started back up. Same symptoms as above but this time I got frustrated and just left it.
Thanks
