If I install sliding barn doors with a rail at the top is there any way to seal around the doors to prevent air leakage and prevent rodent infestation?
I'm looking to find door brushes at a cheap cost to seal the top of our sliding door. The way the wind blows at our place, it actually ends up letting quite a bit of air in. I'm wanting to stop it some because of babies being born in the cold.
Best way is to put cam style door locks on so you can pull it tight. After that, there's not much you can do. The bottom of my doors seal up tight, but the top is loose enough to let the bats in.
The 3rd picture is a cam thing that holds the door in at the bottom. Sliding barn doors was a challenge for to find something that would seal the gap, these seem to work the best for me, I got them at HD a few years ago. The white piece is screwed on the top across the door opening and was easiest one to put on, I wanted brown but that color was sold out. The other vinyl clad seal came in 3' sections, wish they came in 8' sections. I used sheetrock screws to hold them around the door opening and some duct tape on the joints. I find hard to find some sort of sealant that can be screwed, nailed or stapled that will squish down to almost nothing, self adhesive stuff dont hold.
