I've a neighbor whose 73 yr old father gets bored. He also happens to have a machine shop. After looking at all of your pix of sliders replacing the turnbuckles on the BX series I decided to help with the boredom problem.

I bought the sliders for a B2710 along with the pins. Total cost about $75. I printed up the pix several of you posted here, removed the 3PH arms from my BX2200 and supplied the lot to my neighbor. Here's some pix of the result.

These were taken before painting and install. I'll do the install tomorrow after the paint drys.

View 1 shows the tractor end attachment. He made the attachment pieces saving me over $50 in parts. Note the zerks, two on each. There's a bronze sleeve in each part with a groove cut under each zerk.

Outer End shows the simple pin holding it to the other end of the link arm. There's a nylock nut on the bottom with spacer acting as a bushing between the parts.

Bronze Sleeve shows the insert.

In addition to the sliders he decided I needed something better for the adjustable lift arm. I'd been looking for something better. Here's his idea.

Lift arm shows the full arm with all his additions. Lift Arm Pieces shows it all apart. Wheels with tools I'll have to explain.

The idea is to take the 6" bars, slip them onto the arms of the wheel, one top one bottom, and turn in opposite directions. One way sets the lock nut, the other frees it. Once free you spin the lower wheel to adjust the lift arm as desired.

The wheels are a socket in the middle with an outer wheel with arms every 72 degrees. The upper one slides down on the lock nut and is held in place by gravity. The lower one slips up on the adjuster nut and is held in place by the spring. I should be able to leave the lock nut loose while moving snow and the spring should keep it from moving too much.

Now I need to figure out where to keep the breaker bars while I'm on the tractor. I've an idea for that but it'll wait for another thread.

Todd, I'm with ya there. I wish I had that kind of talent and the tools to make the most of it. Fortunately I know someone that does. :D :)

Very slick. Any chance he'd want to make a few more? I could use some of those tractor end attachments, and depending on the price, I might be able to cough it up. My next mod is to buy those sliding adjusters and put em on my BX.....

Very nice work indeed :)

Attached is my old solution to the side link (and top link) ... pretty quick and simple ... some brazed on pieces and lock washers

Didn't you have them on your previous BX? I thought your's were some of the pix I supplied. I do like the work you've done on your toys...oops, I mean tools :D. Inspired me to do some of the mods to mine.

What I really like about replacing the solid piece on the tractor end with the independent armatures is you don't have to make the cut in the slider channel. I was afraid that might weaken it. Of course we're not talking about alot of pressure on them what with the size of the tractor and limit on implement size.

Thanks to all for the kudos. I've passed them on to the right guy along with a link to this thread. Maybe we'll hear from him direct.

I've had some opportunities to try out the mods. I like it!! The sliders make it sooooo easy to change implements. What used to take 10 minutes now takes 2. I bet I can cut that time with more practice :D.

The lift arm mods work. Simple, easy, functional. Grading snow with a level blade works way better than what I was doing.

I'm told my engineer has been following this post. Bill, THANK YOU!!!

The attachments speak for themselves.

Actually, I did have hem on my 2200, now I need them on the 2350! Loved them for changing implements. What I like about your neighbors' solution is that they handle different heights of the 2 arms. Ever talk to your bored engineer buddy about making a couple more??? I'm very interested.... :)
