Well it's now been a little over a year since we took delivery of our New Holland tractor and lately we have noticed the instrument cluster was fogged after pulling it out of the pole barn for chore duty. After shortly speaking with the dealer a box arrived a few days later with a complete instrument cluster. We were really only expecting to see a lens assembly but replacing the whole cluster was actually much easier anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Too bad there isn't an easy way to ramp the hour-meter back up to match the original clock.

We'll miss that first 362 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nice surprise from your dealer! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Had a little trouble seeing the cluster in the attachment though. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Seems there was a reflection of a large bare expanse coming off the lens! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I believe the cluster needs to be attached to the tractor in order to work properly /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Great service from your dealer.

It does appear that the fogging problem has subsided, but the reflection problem is I think a much bigger concern. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just remove the screws from the back cover and let dry in the house for a day or so. This will fix the problem and you'll still have the same hours on the meter.

Good luck.

While that does sound like an easy fix I would suspect that if it were a permanent solution New Holland might be recommending it before they sent out a $320. replacement cluster.

We thought about anti-fog coatings on the lens and silicon sealant for the gasket but if it didn't work out then New Holland might not have been so willing to take the original piece back for warranty exchange.

Mine foggs up a bit durning the winter months only. Mostly from sitting in a warm garage and then going outside to plow snow. But I don't want to loose the hours so I won't fix it. Good idea to take off and put in the house for a bit.
