Hello all. I just posted in the MF buying/pricing section about a 135 I just got yeterday but thought I should post this question here.

The tractor has a dual clutch and new clutches and hopefully this is just an adjustment issue. Regardless of how far down I depress the clutch, it still wants to grind and lurch into engagement on the PTO. The first phase of the clutch is ok in regards to the driveline...but when sitting stationary at idle, shouldn't I be able to engage the PTO without having to force it? This isn't a severe "forcing" but you for sure get a little gear grinding before it clanks in.

Any help out there?

On my JD it takes a few seconds for the PTO gears to slow down enough to slip in. And that's at a idle.

It may be adjustment, but it may just be some "hair" on the clutch facings.

If you don't find out how to make an adjustment, try an attachment hooked to the PTO, and "load" the attachment so the clutch slips when engaging. Let it slip a bit, and see if that doesn't put a better/smoother finish on the clutch facing.

It is what I did to get a PTO clutch freed up, after not being used for many years.

Be sure to drop the engine revs to idle BEFORE pressing the clutch pedal.
Press the clutch pedal ALL THE WAY and WAIT a second or two.
THEN engage the PTO.
If you still get grinding then there is at least an adjustment problem.

G'day grab yourself a manual get under and remove the inspection cover for the clutch (engine off of course, wheels chocked:rolleyes:) and you will see the adjusters not a hard job to adjust them from memory my old boss did them about 5 thou tigher than the book this gave you a bit easier engagement. If this does not help then hook up something to the pto so you can 'defuzz' the plate. Hope this helps
