I may have located a used tiller, light-material bucket, and set of forks for a PT-425 -- at least the guy is will entertain offers. All appear to be in good usable condition.

What would be a reasonable offer to make for them? I have another 46" tiller, so that's not the highest on my priority list, but the opportunity to get a LM bucket and forks for less than "list price" is certainly tempting.

Any suggestions on their value?

Thanks!

If you were going to purchase anyway (new) then I would say that any price lower than new is a good buy based on them being in very good condition.
If they are in normal condition meaning that they have normal wear and tear for their age then I would think half of the current new price would be good.
It really comes down to how badly you want them.

Thanks, PJ. After pricing my 60" finish mower, and it not selling, I didn't have much of a sense for it... These things aren't common enough to get a good idea of what they're worth used.

Kristy at Tazewll had a used tiller listed for a long, long time at $650 (as I recall), along with a 6-way blade. They're not listed now, so I guess they must've finally sold, or like me, the owner decided to just hang onto them.

Depending on condition, I'd offer no more than half price of new on the tiller. You don't know the condition of the motor internally.

As for the forks and bucket... their ain't much that can go wrong with the forks or bucket. Just inspect the welds and look for any signs of repairs, bent, etc... I'd pay $100 for the small bucket. Maybe a little more if I needed it. I could find forks from a forklift repair shop near here pretty cheap. But then I'd have to fabricate or purchase the quick attach plate, so they'd easily be worth 1/2 of new to me.

What about the 10cu ft LM bucket? Is it worth half the price of a new one also?

Yes, In a New York minute. $210 and it's one of the best suited and sized pieces for a 422/425! I wouldn't start to build on for that price. a QA plate is $150. 60 more $ and away you go!!!!!!

I agree with Stray... the large material bucket is my most used implement. If it is in good shape and not bent or cracked, it is worth 1/2 price to me. I couldn't build one cheaper, considering the price of steel, welding rods, grinding wheel, saw blade, torch gas, etc... plus my time is worth $$ to me. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I thought you had sold the mower ot a member on the forum. Seems like someone was going to meet you near Harrisonberg on I81 to buy it. As well as I remember you was going to move to Tennessee. I thought you just had neglected to take the add off of the classifieds.

It hasn't sold -- the only cash offer was for about 1/3 the price of a new one. Another member offered to trade a 48" finish mower for it...

I'll be building a garage with an apartment over it this summer if all goes as planned. It'll serve as a vacation cottage, and then later as a guest suite. We'll build the house and move in a few more years, when I retire....

Thanks, guys. I made an offer that's a little over 1/2 the price of new. We'll see what happens...
