looks like a funnel of some kind, or an exhaust pipe. of course, it could just be a bugle or trumpet...lol

Yep. My guess is the start of a muffler for something that was never completed. That's actually not a bad idea for a exhaust for my Polaris Ranger.

So I found it on a farm on which the farmer passed away 3 years ago. I took it over farming their property 7 years ago (he was in dementia for years before his death). The son has no interest in farming the land. Anyways, I was given the emotional task of selling all his farm equipment, which at times brought tears to my eyes, and his sons and giving the proceeds to the son
The thing thats weird about this piece is that its so new looking. Everything else was made before like 1975. I probably sold 200 items over the last 3 years. But this piece is really unusual. Stainless steel, too.

I was thinking maybe it bolted to a tank like a long riser & funnel?
Might make a nice spittoon....

I like mine and kirkawilsons idea of it being a collector for oil, maybe used oil into a tank? But he didn’t have like a waste oil heater or anything like that....
Seems like the flange on the bottom with the mounting holes will tell the tale of what it is....maybe...
Maybe it was one of his final projects he started before his dementia started? I like the metal work on it. Very nice welding.

Could it be a diy stacked intake with air cleaner housing? Similar to the 2 cylinder JDs.
