I have spent the last week building a wheelchair ramp for my MIL that lives on our property. Today, poured the concrete for the landing, and it was less than 2 hours from being able to be used. About a grand in materials, over 40 feet long. She wanted to go to town, and coming down the steps, broke her femor, spiral, and if my oldest boy was not there to carry her down to her wheelchair don't know what other damage would have been done if she had fallen. 911 was called and they drugged her up good, splinted her leg, and took her 30 miles to the hospital. Will know more later tonight. If she would have waited another 2 hours, might not have been a problem. I just had to wait a day for the oldest son to come over and help me mix all the concrete in a wheelborrow. Don't know now if she will ever return to use the ramp.
She is all ready very frail, takes 30 plus drugs a day, her spine screws are pulling out as it has gotten soft. But only in her 70's. My FIL is now down to 30 percent kidney function, and also starting to get frail, so don't know how he is going to deal with all the special care that she will need. They both have long term insurance, so I think a rest home or nursing home will be the next step. We will see if she is strong enough to get through any operations tonight.
Poop happens, Sorry for the rant.
