Another filter question

Hey all, it's been about 100 hrs. of trouble-free seat time for me on my TC-29D and no real reason to post any questions here. Some of you may remember back when my horse ate my seat cusion, I ended up paying the price and getting the OEM replacement. No others would fit properly, I even called Michigan Seat that makes them and the sales guy was pretty blunt, "Yes we make them, No we wont sell you one...call the dealer".

Anyhow, I just hit the 600 hr mark and changed all the fluids/filters except for the power steering. The manual says change the fluid and the filter/reservoir. I called a couple dealers about this and they all acted like I was the first to ever change this thing. !?! One reason may be the cost of a new one is around $125 after tax,tag and title.

I would like to stay with the New Holland filter but would like to know if there is any other option anyone has used?

Several tractors have the steering filter inside the reservoir. Look on the side of the housing.

I'm not necessarily suggesting you follow my lead, but at over 1200 hours on my TC45D, I've never changed that power steering filter. The fluid still looks okay and the power steering works fine. I suspect that's the case with most other owners. One of these days I might drain and refill the reservoir, maybe at 1500 hours.

Thanks for the input. I checked the reservoir and manual and the part in a single unit, no separate filter.
Since I have enough extra hydro oil on hand I will drain and change the fluid. Like most oils, even though they look clean they can still shear the molecules after use and not lubricate as well.
