Just finished a new lawn roller. I am going to till some of my lawn and level roll and level. This is a 16"x48 roller that was a conveyor belt roller in its former life. I have some pipe tap holes in surface to all water. Don't know how much it will weight but it is 600# empty so I sould be able to pull behind Yanmar. big dan

Those large bearings will last a long, long time if used just as a lawn roller ;)

Wow, good looking job. And, I can't recall ever seeing a pillow block bearing that large. Be sure to grease it since you will likely never see another.

The pillow blocks are from a belt that is about a 1/4 mile long. The company that had them was swaping them out to go to shafts that could be removed and either the roll or shaft could be replaced. They have a grease fitting on top (bottom on my rig) of the bearing and should last forever like you say Renze :D big dan

since everybody's posting up pics of their rollers, here's mine! ;-0

it's pretty old and simple. i just finished putting the new hitch on it as the old one was pretty flimsy and finally gave up the ghost.

it's 24" wide, has a standard 2" hitch and the bx24 pulls it great. i still have to redo the scraper bar with new bolts and give it some paint.

amp do you use water in your roller? That looks like a plug in the side for filling with water. I know that mine is orange it is allis orange not Bota orange. Bet it works pretty good. big dan :)

it was originally designed to be water filled, but it rusted out long ago. filled it with quickrete about 7 years ago. i figure i'll use it till it falls apart. i was just going through the bearings and they look ok, but the main shaft has some bad pits in it. i think it should be ok since it doesn't spin very fast.

i am painting the new tow bracket kubota orange this afternoon and regreasing all the "needle" bearings (they about as big around as 5/16" dowel rod) and it should be good for another 10 years or so! works great for rolling flat mole hills to found out which are active tunnels. i've also compacted fresh white rock with it with good results.
