Hello everyone, new here. Live in the Denver area on a bit less than 2 acres. Every time I have searched for information this site came up and usually provided the best, if not the only, answer. Thought I'd join and share the fun.
Here's a summary of my tractor dealings up to this point...
Last year I picked up a Kubota B1550 with a LA 300 loader. It also came with a belly mower and king kutter xb rear discharge finish mower. It's been a fun year and I have learned a thing or three the easy and hard ways
Trying to solve overheating, drained/replaced coolant then this forum learned me that a fine layer of dust covering the blades of the radiator will cause the tractor to overheat. Blew it out and everything went back to normal. I suppose it's ok to have new, clean, fresh coolant though.
Replaced 2/4 quick connects that were leaking on the loader and didn't make a mess! Thanks again to the forum for the tip on releasing the pressure from the hydraulic system.
Grease, grease, and more grease. I learned all the grease points, how to properly grease things, the amount to use, and why it matters. I do have a boat/trailer which requires grease and was already accustomed to the horrors of getting a grease gun stuck onto the zerk but did have a really good time reading all of the stories of it happening to people with their tractors
The belly mower hasn't been attached and I'll likely sell it. I had researched the tractor and attachments ahead of buying it and confirm with most others that the rear mower rocks and is all I need.
I made two more purchases last winter. First a 6' heavy duty absolute beast of a rear blade. I used it a few times but found several problems with it and my particular tractor. The first, and most important is the height of the blade was too tall for my tractor. This pretty much forced me to hook it up at a very non-aggressive angle. The thing was so heavy I had to be really careful moving it around and hooking it up alone. It was a Cat 1 hookup but my lower links barely stretched wide enough to hook onto the blade pins. It was a real task attaching it...also it did not fit my quick hitch (grabbed the harbor freight one based on feedback here) either. Lesson after lesson learned with the blade and using it. It worked ok, I designed a lot of whoop-dee-woos and smoothed them out. Just didn't work as well as I wanted, it was oversized, etc. so I sold it. Now I'm after a box blade to play with
I also found an old post hole auger so cheap I could not pass it up. Have yet to hook it up and use it. I do know that it will not fit my quick hitch (it's too wide) and it has a Cat 2 sleeve over one of the Cat 1 pins. After trying WD40, vise grips, and a hammer, I cannot for the life of me remove that sleeve. Next up is the heat it. Everything else seems to be in working condition so next spring I can put in some fence.
Next up for the tractor is a tune up on the rest of things that I haven't touched, like an oil change. I also have noticed some dripping from the loader, seems like a leaky seal but I am not sure...will post a thread about that.
