Hi,
I'm new to TBN. I plan on buying a used 4WD, gear or hydro, approximately 30 HP, compact
tractor in the very near future. I've sort of narrowed it down to New Holland, John Deere
or Kubota. However, after reading some of the TBN posts about the New Holland TC30's
FEL mounting problem, I'm a little concerned. Maybe someone can answer this question:
Was the mount point casting breakage a defective casting problem on some
NH tractors, or is there an inherent design problem with the FEL mounting
directly to the casting on the NH tractors?
Thanks for your help.

Welcome! I have not heard about the problem you mentioned but I do not really follow the new holland section, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along and help out.

Try posting your question in the specific New Holland/Ford forum here on TBN. BTW, Welcome aboard. Best wishes.

Hi Erie I'm from Fairview. Don't know anything about the problems you have mentioned.

:welcome: To TBN. I would not discoount the Kioti tractor series. Look around for dealers. I deal with Miner's in Canfield Ohio and Edinburg, Ohio. I traded in my DS3510 (34 HP)for a DS4510 with them. When I had a problem with my DS4510, They worked with me and we got it resolved. (The Module for the engine shut off system was bad.) We did have to go to Kioti to get help. but they called back the next morning and told us what to replace. hope you find a tractor to fit your needs.

Welcome to TBN!!!

I don't own a TC-30, but I have read of several instances of this tractor breaking due to FEL or backhoe usage. The TC-30 was one tractor I looked at prior to buying my Deere 790. I went with the 790 because it was a well established design (going back to the late 1980's).

I do suggest you do a TBN search and do some research. I cannot recall any determination of the root cause of these failures, but I may have missed any postings that provided that info.

All that said, I can recommend the Deere 790...good machine, considering it's relatively light weight (2200 lbs for the base tractor).

I did some searches after I bought my TC30 and stumbled across a post. It seems loosening bolts on the casting are a common issue. When I bought my TC30 all of the bolts for the FEL casting mount point were loose and two bolt castings were halfway cracked; fortunately there was enough thread to torque them to the minimal torque value.

From what I've read, the FEL is fine as long as you don't abuse the FEL and occasionally check the torque on the casting bolts.

I realize that we are limited in the Erie area to the NH, JD, and Bota as far as what we can acturaly get in the way of a tractor. There are several other manufacturers avalable also if you look a little deeper, and of course are even interested. We also have Mahindra right there alonge interstate 90, the previous post mentioned Kioti in Ohio although I am not sure just how far that is because I didn't look, and there is an LS dealer in Thompson Ohio which isn't that far Paul Robision Tractor sales Paul Robison & Co. - Home that is where I got my tractor and he has been in business for ages. Now if you are only looking at used the three you listed ar probably your best bet it this area, but don't limit yourself look at new also shopping is the best part of buying a tractor.
