I guess this is kind of my introductory thread, along with a request for some help thread...
I just bought a Satoh ST2020 from my friend's dad, as he just bought a new 4WD Mahindra. I'm new to the tractor game, but well seasoned with maintenance and repair of all my vehicles and equipment. I bought this tractor to use mainly for mowing my yard. Got a 4' sitrex mower for the yard, and a 4' tiller for when I decide to make moves on a garden. The tractor runs like a top, and I intend to keep it that way. I am really enjoying having it around the house.
It does have a few leaks that I would like to address. The main leak appears to be coming from the top of the hydraulic case, just under the front of the seat. I was told there is supposed to be some sort of valve, or vent, or breather, or something there. Whatever is there now, does not seem to be working properly, as hydraulic fluid leaks pretty good out of the top of the case, and runs down the side of the transmission. This appears to be saturating both sides of the transmission (depending on which way I park it in the shed), and is making it hard to properly diagnose other potential leaks in the area. So I would like to remedy this first. Additionally, I know that one of the axle seals is leaking, and I would like to replace it as well.
Ultimately, what I really need is a good service manual (if it exists) and a couple of resources for replacement parts. Could anyone here point me in the right direction?
Lastly, I'm currently running a set of 9.5-24 R1 tires on the rear. I think that I'd like to find a decent set of turf tires that I could leave on the majority of the time (for routine mowing), and then I could swap the R1s back on on when needed. As prefaced above, I am new to tractors, and my knowledge of tractor tires is limited. Any tire recommendations would be helpful. I think I will probably get another set of wheels so I'm not having to remove and re-seat beads when I want to swap tires. Can someone tell me what the wheel bolt pattern is for the rear of this tractor?
Thanks in advance! Oh yeah, this thread is worthless without pics!
